Welcome

We are very blessed to have Rev. Darienne Gagne, a United Church of Christ pastor serving as our Pastor; she leads worship services that are lively, spiritual and enlightening.  Worship is not a quiet affair. Read Pastor’s Welcome letter.

We have a strong focus on doing Mission work, locally and around the world. We are currently raising $1000 for seeds and food to send with Lori Tillman through “To Love a Child” to Africa.  She has gone to Mozambique and Nicaragua to do Mission work, and has made two trips to Iowa for the same purpose. Others work in local food pantries.

We have actively supported Heifer Project for many years (mainly through the efforts of our Sunday School), and we have raised over $15,000 to benefit this cause. This is 5 Arks. We have also supported a Pastor in Mozambique as he pursues his theology studies.

Closer to home, we provide financial support to Dr. Bob Pagelow as he provides medical care to impoverished residents of Albany; the Valatie Food Pantry and our Clothing Barn provides a resource to many.

This congregation was formed in 2010 from the union of the “old” North Chatham United Methodist Church and the Wesley at Malden Bridge United Methodist Church.  These congregations were well over 150 years old and had a long history of working together. The union has brought new energy and vitality to the combined congregation.

In 1867, the Methodist Society had outgrown its church building (now a residence) and contracted a local carpenter named Abram Ring to build the structure that is now our Sanctuary and Fellowship hall.  Our pipe organ is a vintage Tracker instrument that is well over 100 years old and still sounding wonderful. The barn, which houses our clothing barn and is used for storage of Auction donations, was built by the members of this church in 1997. The carriage house that it replaced was moved down the street at the time, was completely renovated, and is now quite visible from Route 203 in the center of the hamlet.
