Lay Delegate to ACLay LeaderNominations & Leader DevelopmentPSPR Pastor Staff Parish Relations CommStewardship and Communications

Structure – An effective committee builds a strong positive relationship between the church, its members, friends, and the surrounding community and helps all parties understand the strong link between mission and fundraising/ communication.  The church cannot do its missional work without funds and people cannot understand the importance of this spiritual work without clear communication and messaging.

Who’s qualified for this job?

Spiritual Gifts: encouragement, vision, generosity, enthusiasm, and wisdom

Experience, Skills: traditional and social media fluency, planning and execution of fundraising initiatives, ability to present a clear, concise message that always keeps the focus on the mission of the church.

Responsibilities

  •    Committee members maintain a healthy sense of the church’s work and it’s biblical basis (to make disciples) in contrast to thinking of themselves as business people.
  • This committee encourages, strengthens, nurtures, supports, and respects the community of the church and it’s neighbors.
  • This committee communicates openly and regularly the mission of the church alongside fundraising efforts.
  • In consultation with the pastor, the committee recommends to the church council fundraising and communication initiatives.
  • This committee provides insight into the best current practices for communicating the church’s mission to those within and without the church community.  They consider the culture and needs of the community around the church.
  • This committee enlists others in the church family to participate in fundraising efforts.

Worship and Nurture Committee

Structure – An effective Worship and Nurture Committee builds a strong positive relationship between worship and the church’s mission to make disciples who make disciples of Jesus Christ. Worship and Nurture members help coordinate worship that calls forth the best in worshipers and supports members who need love and care (which is everyone in the church).

Who’s qualified for this job?

Spiritual Gifts: shepherding, helping, servanthood, charisma and leadership.

Experience, Skills: planning, visioning, administration, decoration or joy in crafting/ creating.

Responsibilities

  • In consultation with the Pastor and Music Director, committee members help plan worship (usually quarterly). This is particularly important during holidays like Easter and Christmas.
  • Promote the spiritual life of congregants by listening for worship services, liturgies and hymns that contain special meaning to worshipers in the church.
  • In consultation with the Pastor, reach out to members of the congregation who may be struggling with personal or spiritual issues through simple acts like coordinating transportation to worship or bringing a warm meal to a grieving family.
  • This committee is responsible for appointing the Communion Stewards, and assuring there is a Steward in service the first Sunday of every month. Newly, the committee informs the Stewards to assure a Gluten-free option is always available to worshipers.
  • This committee assures there are Greeters and Ushers at the beginning of every service.  As this is a mostly informal process, members of the committee can fill in themselves.
  • This committee keeps the church “family” aware of each other’s birthdays and other special celebrations, as determined by the committee.
  • This committee enlists the help of others in putting on occasional fellowship/ coffee hours.
  • The committee maintains the Prayer List in the Order of Worship.
